Description:

Asyran is a specific rapid acting H2 receptor antagonist which blocks histamine receptors in the gastric mucosa. This block causes reduced secretion of gastric acid, reducing both the volume and the acid and pepsin content of the secretion. The duration of action is relatively long as Asyran causes potent reduction of gastric acid for 12 hours. Asyran is therefore used to treat and prevent gastric and duodenal ulcers. Asyran is also used for the management and symptomatic relief of oesophageal reflux disease and to treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. The beneficial effects usually appear after a few days of regular treatment with the drug.
