Actavis, the international generic pharmaceutical company, is the first to launch the generic of Lisinopril (Lisopril) and Mirtazapine (Remirta) on the Maltese market, taking the total portfolio of products to thirty. The portfolio is set to increase further in 2008, confirming Actavis as the leading generic pharmaceutical company in Malta.



Lisopril is available in 3 doses: 5mg, 10mg and 20mg, in blister packs of 30 film-coated tablets. Lisinopril belongs to the group of angiotensin-converting enzymes. Lisopril is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, heart failure, and in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction within 24 hrs at the onset of AMI, in patients who suffer from renal complications of Diabetes mellitus and in the treatment of renal disease in hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and incipient nephropathy.   Lisinopril should also be administered as supplement to usual standard treatment of myocardial infarction (nitrates, thrombolytics, acetylsalicylic acid and ß blocking agents).



Remirta is available in 2 doses: 15mg and 30mg, in blister packs of 30 orodispersible tablets. Mirtazapine is a presynaptic α2 antagonist, which increases noradrenergic and serotonergic neurotransmission in the central nervous system. Mirtazapine is indicated to treat major depressive episodes and the tablet should be placed on the tongue with dry hands where it is rapidly dissolved.
