Antihypertensives - Actavis acts on lercanidipine
Actavis said it had seized on patent expiry for Recordati’s Zanidip and Lercadip (lercanidipine) brands to launch alternatives to the antihypertensives in five European markets, including France and the UK.
A ‘day one’ launch on 21 January in France came a day after Actavis introduced lercanidipine 10mg and 20mg tablets in the UK, also under its own label. Meanwhile, the firm’s Medis third-party unit is supplying customers in Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands and the UK with the tablets that Actavis developed in Iceland and manufactures in Malta.
