02/01/2008 - Actavis supports L-Istrina 2007
Actavis Ltd located in Bulebel supported this years’ L-Istrina 2007, a yearly event organized in aid of various non profit making organisations like ‘Fondazzjoni Eden’, Karitas and ‘L-Arka’. Hundreds of people who are in need will benefit from the collected funds.
Apart from donating (€3494.06) Lm1500, this year Actavis employees also contributed towards this cause by volunteering on the day to answer donation calls. This contribution is in line with Actavis’ strategy to help people who are in need.

06/08/2007 – Actavis supports Life Cycle – Where Only Eagles Dare
Actavis was once again one of the sponsors for the Life Cycle Challenge 2007. The Life Cycle Organization is a non-profit organization whose main aim is to raise funds for the Renal Unit at St. Lukes Hospital and increase awareness of the causes of renal disease. Life Cycle also helps to promote organ donation and encourage people to carry a donor card. This year’s Cycling Challenge which started on the 7th of August and ends on the 21st August, carrying the name: ‘Where Only Eagles Dare’. This ambitious Challenge, covering 2100km in 14days, passes through Romania, Ukraine, Poland and Germany. Actavis has also donated a supply of Vostar emulgel for all the athletes taking part in this year’s Life Cycle. Vostar emulgel is a topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug available from Actavis. Vostar emulgel is potentially effective for the topical treatment of pain and inflammation.

30/07/2007 - Actavis Sponsors – EPSA Summer University 2007
The Malta Pharmaceutical Students Association (MPSA) in collaboration with the European Pharmaceutical Students Association (EPSA) will be hosting the 9th EPSA Summer University this year in Malta. This is being organized with Actavis as a main sponsor and with the co-operation of the Department of Pharmacy. This event will be held between the 30th July and the 5th of August at the Qawra Palace Hotel. The summer university shall start with an opening ceremony held at the hotel itself on the 30th of July. The Topic chosen for this year’s event is ‘A future within the pharmaceutical industry’. A series of lectures and workshops ranging from topics including pharmacogenetics, pharmacoeconomics, regulatory affairs and the generic drug industry will be held in the mornings whilst in the afternoons EPSA will be organizing training camps with the help of local professionals. 100 students from all over Europe will be attending this event. The reception committee has also obtained the support of the Ministry of Health, Malta Chamber of Pharmacists, Malta Enterprise, Malta Institute of Management and the Department of Health Information. 08/03/2007 - Actavis Sponsors the Malta Football Association's Swimming Pool
The MFA Swimming Pool Management have just signed a sponsorship deal with Actavis Limited.
Through this agreement, Actavis have sponsored the installation of equipment at the Ta’ Qali pool that include a set of protective nets and goal posts, a pace clock, a set of stainless steel cable lane ropes, waterpolo balls, kick-boards and other floats.
“The installation of this equipment makes the MFA swimming pool the only indoor venue where waterpolo games can be played,” a statement from the MFA Swimming Pool Management said.
Throughout the months of December and January, waterpolo training was held regularly at Ta’ Qali by the ASA junior national team, Sirens, San Giljan and Sliema juniors. Other regular activities include classes for children in conjunction with the Kavallette Waterpolo School, training for local clubs and the ASA national team, the Birkirkara SJ triathlon team, masters swimming and the MFA Swimming School.

12/02/2007 - Actavis sponsors Hair & Beauty Marathon in aid of “Razzett tal-Hbiberija”
For the 3rd year running, Actavis Limited located in Bulebel, was one of the main sponsors for the MCAST Razzett Hair and Beauty Marathon. The event was organized in aid of Razzett tal-Hbiberija’s disability programmes on the 10th and 11th of February. Apart from the sponsorship of Actavis Ltd, this year, Actavis employees also contributed towards this cause by presenting a donation and volunteering on both days to answer donation calls. This sponsorship is in line with Actavis’ strategy to help people who are in need.
Everyone was invited to visit the Razzett tal-Hbiberija’s Multipurpose Hall without appointment to benefit from hair & beauty treatments that were available. This was a great opportunity for children, teenagers and adults alike to receive professional services at low prices, thus knowing that every pound spent was going towards a good cause.
The MCAST Razzett Hair & Beauty Marathon was featured live on three local TV stations throughout the 36 hours. All the donated funds will be used to help over 1000 children and adults with a disability that benefit from complimentary services that Razzett tal-Hbiberija offers year after year. Razzett tal-Hbiberija spends Lm400,000 per year on its disability programmes and depends highly on fundraising activities such as this one to survive.
08/11/2006 - Actavis donates EUR 200,000 worth of medicines to the Centre for Missionary Animation.
During the month of October, Actavis Ltd donated around 25 million tablets, worth EUR 200,000 to the Centre for Missionary Animation. Actavis has contributed by donating medicines used to treat infections, tuberculosis, cardiovascular and respiratory disorders. The Centre for Missionary Animation, founded 25 years ago, is an international entity within the Missionary Society of St. Paul.
Medicines donated by Actavis have been shipped to clinics run by the Centre for Missionary Animation in two major cities in Peru, the capital city Lima and Arequipa. These medicines will be distributed free of charge to the poor people who attend these clinics and who would otherwise not afford to pay for their healthcare.

27/09/2006 - Actavis Sponsors - Ability Challenge Overseas organized by Razzett tal-Hbiberija
Actavis Limited, located in Bulebel was one of the main sponsors for the ability challenge that Razzett Tal-Hbiberija organized – with a difference. The Razzett Ability Challenge was held in the South of France between the 14th & 21st August. The Ability Challenge included teams of mixed abilities challenging each other and pushing themselves to their limits. The Challenges which included Mountain Biking, Trekking, Canyoneering, Paragliding, Kayaking and Via-Ferrata over a 6 day period was an excellent experience for all the participants that took part this year.
All the activities were co-ordinated by professional guides to ensure that each activity is carried out in safety and is well coordinated. Teams consisted of people with mixed abilities – each team had at least one registered physically disabled person.
Razzett tal-Hbiberija’s main aim for organising this challenge is to create more awareness of the abilities and not disabilities of persons with a disability. Locally many persons with a disability are discouraged to attempt certain challenges due to a ‘can’t do’ attitude.

Actavis was one of the sponsors of “The August Moon Ball” held on Saturday 5th August 2006 at the Verdala Castle organized by the Malta Community Chest Fund. Proceeds from this event go entirely towards the charitable activities of the Malta Community Chest Fund. The Malta Community Chest Fund is a charitable institution under the patronage of His Excellency The President of Malta Dr. Eddie Fenech Adami. This institution not only aims to help philantropic institutions but more important, the individual itself. The Malta Community Chest Fund does not acquire any funds from the Government of Malta but strives to achieve funds through various activities organised throughout the year and through the generosity of the general public in order to generate funds to help those in need.

Actavis was the main sponsor of a day seminar organized by “The International Association of Lions Clubs Zone Malta” held on the 28th May 2006 at the Coastline Hotel. Lions Clubs International is the world's largest volunteer service organization, with clubs all over the globe. Lions Club aim to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation.
Various prominent persons in the medical and philanthropic scenes presented interesting talks. Mr Mark Debono, Ophthalmic Technician at the Lions Eye Bank at St. Luke’s Hospital gave a resume of the eye bank progress since it started its operation 2 years ago. Psychiatrist Dr. Anton Grech gave a talk on stress management. Prof. Joseph Pace, Professor of Dermatology presented a talk on melanoma skin cancer. Mr Paul Micallef, Chairman of the Special Olympics (Malta) presented a paper on the vision program which is being done in conjunction with Lions Clubs International.
03/04/2006 - Actavis sponsors NSTF Science Week 2006
Actavis was one of the sponsors of the National Student Travel Foundation (Malta) Science Week 2006 that was held at St. James Cavalier from the 27th of March till the 2nd of April. The NSTF Science Educational Programmes cater for students aged 8 to 22, with the participation of approximately 500 students who exhibit their creative work. Students who participated in the above-mentioned projects exhibit their scientific creation and research for students and the general public. Actavis employees, Godwin Grech, Jurgen Mifsud and Paul Galea delivered talks to students present during the Science Week.
The National Student Travel Foundation (Malta) – NSTF – was founded by public deed in 1977. For the 2nd year, Actavis is one of the sponsors for the MCAST RAZZETT Hair & Beauty Marathon which will be organised in aid of Razzett tal-Hbiberija’s disability programmes between the 5th and 6th March. This sponsorship is in line with Actavis’s strategy to help people who are in need. The marathon will kick off from 11am on Sunday 5th March until 11pm on Monday 6th March.

08/02/2006 - Actavis donates medicines to ‘Gesu fil-Proxxmu’
During the month of February, Actavis donated medicines to Fr. George Grima, founder of ‘Gesu fil-Proxxmu’. ‘Gesu fil-Proxxmu is a philanthropic organisation consisting of missionaries who help less fortunate people in Africa. One in three people in Kenya and Ethiopia are born positive to HIV, and thus infections due to immunosuppresion are very common. Actavis has contributed by donating Siprox, one of the leading antibiotics on the local market used to treat bacterial infections.
29/08/2005 - Actavis supporting Life Cycle - Acropolis…. The Hard Way
Actavis was once again one of the main sponsors for the Life Cycle 2005. This year the Life cycle team faced a very hard route infact a 1850km cycle ride from Budapest to Athens between the 29th August and the 7th September 2005. The money raised during the campaign was spent on life saving equipment used in the treatment of persons suffering from Kidney Failure and awareness on Organ Transplants. The Life Cycle Organisation was founded in 1999 with the aim of creating awareness and generating support for patients suffering from chronic kidney disease. Life Cycle, together with the government, is directly contributing to the patient to receive a better quality of life.
19/03/2005 - Hair & Beauty Marathon sponsorship
The 10th edition of the 36hrs Hair & Beauty Marathon was held on the weekend of 19th & 20th March in aid of Razzett tal-Hbiberija. The event is organized by MCAST Institute of Community services which incorporates the School of Hair & Beauty. The producer and presenter of event is Frederick Attard from Sales & Marketing department. Fred does this job on a voluntary basis and after work hours.
Actavis part sponsored the event by booking up Corporate TV advertising. This was the first time for our company in Malta to advertise on TV.
Thanks to donations made by viewers and sponsorships by a number of companies, the event raised Lm32,833 towards the services provided by Razzett tal-Hbiberija.
The Razzett tal-Hbiberija is a non-profit foundation based in Malta that offers an array of health and leisure services, free of charge, to over 1000 persons with a disability.
01/09/2004 - Actavis supports Lifecycle
For the 3rd year in a row Actavis has supported Lifecycle by being one of their top 10 sponsors. The Life Cycle Organisation was founded in 1999 with the aim of creating awareness and generating support for patients suffering from end stage renal failure (chronic kidney disease).Every year Life Cycle participants ride approximately 1700 km in various European localities in order to raise funds in support of the Renal Unit at St Luke’s Hospital Malta. This year the challenge for the cyclists is the Pyrenean Crusade starting from Versailles Paris on the 31 of August and arriving in Madrid on the 9 September . A press conference during which funds collected where donated to The Renal Unit and sponsors were publicly thanked was held on Saturday 28 August at St Luke’s Hospital.

To commemorate the launch of a new corporate identity on Wednesday 12 May, Actavis Ltd presented a donation to the Malta Community Chest Fund.
The presentation was made to His Excellency Dr. E. Fenech Adami, President of The Republic of Malta at The Palace, Valletta at 10.30am.
